The Programme

The programme is a dynamic series of stations similar to those experienced in the examination. In the morning you will rotate around three one hour stations based on the clinical componant of PACES. You will see approximately 24 clinical cases in the session and will be in groups ranging from 4-6 with each examiner. We carefully model our clinical cases on the feedback from candidates who have passed the examination. You will also rotate to an ethics or history station in the morning when groups will divide into two or three individuals.

Our course examiner will observe your technique and allow you to present the cases before feeding back on your performance. We use a mix of observed examination skills and allowing individual candidates to examine all patients in order to measure diagnostic and presentation skills. Our examiner will indicate a pass or fail and advise on any areas you might improve upon.

In the afternoon, you will have two clinical stations similar to those in the morning but also a history station or a communication station along with the NEW station 5. For these you will split into two groups of 2 or 3 examinees and interview actors trained to play out the scenario (or real patients in station 5), just as you will in the examination. The experience is very realistic and mirrors the examination experience very closely. Scenarios are derived from those used in the genuine PACES examination.

One of our examiners is an existing College examiner, and all our examiners are selected for their teaching experience and aptitude
